Say Hi to George!
This is an exercise in raster to vector conversion with the final part being
a 3D image derived from the original clipart. The raster to vector
conversion takes place in Accutrans, as does the development of the 3D STL
model. The actual tool path is developed in StlWork.
Note: all the images on this page are thumbnails. Clicking on them will

create a .bmp file with the image to be processed. It should be a 256
or less color image. For this example we used a clip art picture of
George Washington found in the Micrografx Graphics Suite. We used
Picture Publisher to crop and adjust the color palette to 256. The
file was then saved as George.bmp
we processed the file in Accutrans. Use File-Open, and select BMP to
DEM. Accutrans created a file called George.stl.
the file is saved to a STL format, open it in StlWork and develop the tool
- The only thing left to do is cut the part.
